Technical characteristics

We design each model to match key parameters such as type of dust, working temperature, humidity or particle load, which allows us to guarantee efficiency and durability in our equipment.

Emission source

Typical particle size range (µm)

Main characteristics

Drilling and blasting

10 – 1000 µm

Wide dispersion; coarse particles settle quickly, but fine respirable fractions (<10 µm) are also generated.

Primary and secondary crushing

50 – 500 µm

Abrasive dust, high concentration, predominantly >100 µm fractions.

Milling

1 – 100 µm

High presence of fine respirable dust, a mix of abrasive particles and metallic minerals.

Conveyor transport and transfer

20 – 300 µm

Heterogeneous dust with medium fractions; high particle load due to free-fall material transfer.

Drying plants / treatment kilns

1 – 50 µm

Fine to very fine dust; high temperature, possible presence of volatile metallic compounds.

Storage and stockpiling (silos, piles, hoppers)

10 – 500 µm

Dust variability depending on handling and wind; risk of diffuse emissions.

Loading and dispatch

5 – 200 µm

Fugitive emissions; mix of coarse and fine respirable particles.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are bag filters used for in mining?

They capture dust generated during various extraction, crushing, transport, and material handling processes. Their main function is to protect workers’ health, prevent environmental contamination, and reduce machinery wear.

They can retain very fine solid particles, such as silica, metallic dust, clays, oxides, and other residues present in gases or air from mining processes. The retained particle size can be less than 1 micron, depending on the filter media used.

It depends on dust type, airflow, operating conditions, and fabric type. Under normal conditions, bags can last between 1 and 2 years. Periodic inspections are recommended to detect wear, blockages, or loss of efficiency.

Technical fabrics such as polyester, aramid (Nomex), PPS, or PTFE are used, selected according to temperature, abrasiveness, and chemical composition of dust. These materials offer mechanical, thermal, and chemical resistance to withstand severe mining conditions.

They are used in processes such as rock crushing, pneumatic mineral transport, hopper discharge, bulk material handling, calcination kilns, mineral drying, and tunnel ventilation, among others. We adapt each system to the process stage and its specific technical requirements.
